Reborn babies from Dundore Dolls are made from unpainted vinyl body parts - usually obtained from Bountiful Baby. Heat set paints are used to gradually build up the muddled newborn flesh tones - requiring 5 to 9 bakings of each piece - to create the lifelike appearance of a real baby. When the painting is completed, hair is rooted on the head - a hair at a time - using a needle felting tool. Mohair is used to achieve the silky fine look of baby hair.
